In this reasource students are provided with a variation of infomation in the form of text, visual images and audio. This variation allows for all types of learners to achieve their best results in the hustory syllabus. This lesson reasource is based around the Stage five corhot studying the Depth Study 3- Australians at War: World Wars I and II (1914-1918, 1939-1945). In this task students are to give particular attention to the Syllabus dot points,
During this 80 minute lesson students are to evaluate infomation of both a primary and secondary nature in order to develop their knowledge on Both the World War I and World War II era whilst developing assessment skills. By enagaging in this task students shall acieve the following outcomes;
In this lesson students are first faced with an overveiw of the time period and the events which contributed to the outbreak of war in both periods prior to 1941 and 1939. They are also provided with a variation of primary sources which demonstrate the nature of warfare in both global confilcts. The second page focus' on the syllabus point of the nature of warfare in the gallipoli campaign. This page gives detailed annalysis of the nature of the warfare and the changing scope of warfare with reference to the technological advancements of weapons and warfare. This page also has an outside resource in an audio format. This footage demonstrates the nature of Warfare during the Gallipoli campaign and the conditions which soldiers endured. This encorperation of a visual aspect of learning accomidates for those visual learners, and breaks up the text and allows for students to apply their new knowledge of warfare during this time in relation to the footage and create a visual annalysis of the infomation. Likewise the encorperation of Wilfred Owens poem Dulce Et Decorum Est demonstrates both the attitudes towards war in this time period, and the conditions of which were present on the front line during this time. The use of the poem and the associated animation allows students to once again apply their knowledge in a visual manner. Like wise the third page demonstrates the changing scope and nature of warfare from World War I to World War II. On this particular page both the nature of World War I and World War II are outlined, as the differences between them. Most of the infomation on this page is of a text manner, however there is images and audio to accomidate for visual learners. After reading this infomation and watching the relevent video link, studnets are encouraged to participate in a group discussion on the changing scope and nature of warfare in both the World War I and Wolrd War II period. In doing so studnets are able to express their ideas about the nature of warfare, what it was like and why it changed along side with the advancement of technology. The fourth page on the site is an quiz which students can be informally assesed on the lessons which they had previously engaged in. This activity not only encourages studnets to develop their assessment and evaluation skills, but also provides the teacher with feedback on the sections of the lesson which were not fully understood or may need to be once again relfected on.
When engaging in this activity is is a potential problem tat students may become disinterested int he content as their is a great deal of text. In order to combat such and keep studnets interested there is a variation of multimedia reasources which aim to break up the text and once again engage students in the learning activity intended for them. The use of this visual stimulious also gives students a visual representation of warfare and the conditions soldiers endured in both the World War I and World War II era. If studnets do not wish to engage in this online activity they shall be provided with infomation sheets which outline both the syllabus points which are being targeted in this lesson. studnets are also able to acess this lesson online and after school hours so that they can obtain any missed lessons or use this reasource as a reflective tool.
